Savoi Ellabard was the product
of youthful elven passions. She was born and raised deep in the
Forests of Relum. Her father, a steadfast priest of Galasiria,
and her mother, a renowned paladin of the Goddess of the Forests,
adventured together for years and fell in together on the road.
Their relationship fell apart quickly after the heat of passion
cooled, ten years later. They devoted themselves to the education
of their daughter Savoi driving her towards the life of a divination
sorceror to aid the church and village.
Savoi grew up sheltered in the temple of her father, both her
parents over-compensating for their lustful zeal. Reading over
recounts of her parents' adventures was her only pleasure and
worthless arcane tomes, worthless to the elves at least, filled
her days. Through the years, Savoi's parents collected many treasures
for which they never found a use. These included several valuable
spellbooks. Growing up in an isolated elven village there was
no demand for the spellbooks among the elven sorcorers. Savoi
played with the books as if they were puzzle books; a distraction
from her pampered boredom. She spent hours trying to puzzle out
the ancient spellbooks as a mental exercise.
Her arcane skills were self taught,
combining elven spell lore with the arcane tomes for over 20 years.
Eventually she was able to master wizardly cantrips. Her parents
were surprised and happy that their daughter actually showed an
interest in magic, even if it was impure human magic and they
gave her further access to their libraries.
One day an older human wondered into their village and presented
himself to the village elders. In perfect Elven he offered gifts
of stories and knowledge in exchange for a night's lodging and
a guide out of the vilage.
Savoi was enthralled listening to the man's stories from the bough
of her tree. He was a middle aged human named Aleric. The human
recounted tales of adventure throughout the night, involving the
entire village in his tales. He even told a tale that matched
a tale of one of her parents' lesser-known adventures about which
she had read. But Savoi fell out of her tree bough when he told
of her parents' lusty stolen moments in a necromancer's dungeon.
He laughed and helped her up. As he did, she saw her parents staring
at each other from opposite sides of the fire, oblivious to her
fall.
That night, her parents were too preoccupied to notice Savoi wasn't
studying. She asked her parents if she could join the party escorting
the human out of the forest. Absently they agreed, in unison,
and Savoi presented herself to the village elders to offer to
herself as a guide...with her parents blessings of course. Aleric
heard the offer and thanked the elders. Before they could even
consider the matter it was settled and Savoi and two other elves
were leading Aleric through winding magical trails. When she left
town with the human stranger, she fully expected to return and
took one of the ancient books with her to read during the journey.
When they reached the edge of the forest, Savoi made a decision
and asked the elves to give her love to her parents and began
a road to adventure with Aleric. The old man lead her on a life
of adventure and taught her magic beyond the simple cantrips.
Years later the old man died in Jerranq after a long battlewith
a pit fiend and its minions. Aleric's dying words to her were
"turn evil onto itself".
After burying her mentor, Savoi
spent years studying the greatest threats, in her mind, to sentient
beings in the library of Harria - abyssal creatures. She had no
idea how to follow her friend's dying words but found tantalizing
clues in the library of Harria, though not enough to define a
clear path.
After ten years of seclusion in the library she decided it was
time to search out a life of adventure again.
