This construct resembles a bas relief of a male human face with strong, dignified features.
This golem serves as an immobile guardian to secure a particular door. The golem is placed on the stone lintel of a door and can open or close its door at will.
The grandfather plaque is totally devoted to guarding its door, and loyally serves whoever lives within. Its focus is usually narrow; unless a response is needed, a grandfather plaque seldom initiates any action. When found on an abandoned building, the plaque will try to get people to either remove it from the building or rebuild the ruin - its existence is meaningless without people to guard.
The plaque has enough intelligence to screen guests and can speak a single language, designated at the time of creation by its master.
Combat
Grandfather plaques do not normally attack, and cannot attack physically in any event. They can defend themselves with magical powers.
Magic Missile (Su): A grandfather plaque can discharge a single bolt of energy from each of its two eyes every round as a standard action. This bolt operates exactly like a magic missile spell as if cast by a 6th level sorcerer (except that each eye only fires a single bolt) and is subject to spell resistance.
Shout (Su): Once every 10 rounds, the grandfather plaque can shout as the arcane spell as if cast by a 6th level sorcerer as a standard action. This effect is subject to spell resistance.
Ray of Enfeeblement (Su): Anyone who touches either the plaque or the door it is guarding without permission is subject to an effect equivalent to a ray of enfeeblement spell as if cast by a 6th level sorcerer. This effect is automatic in that it requires no attack roll, as the act of touching the door or the plaque is presumed to have satisfied the touch attack requirement. This is a free action that takes effect on the turn of the touching creature and there is no limit to the number of times this effect may occur each round. This effect is subject to spell resistance.
Arcane Lock (Su): Any door guarded by a grandfather plaque is secured as if by an arcane lock spell cast by a 6th level sorcerer. This effect is continually operating and can be turned on or off by the plaque as a free action.
Telepathy (Su): The grandfather plaque can communicate by telepathy to its master (designated at the time of creation) no matter what the distance.
Construction
A grandfather plaque's body is chiseled from a single piece of hard stone, such as granite, weighing at least 500 pounds. The stone must be of exceptional quality, and costs 1,500 gp. Carving the body requires a DC 17 Craft (stonemasonry) check or a DC 17 Craft (sculpting) check.
