Therran Creature Listing
A Database of the Fauna of Therra

The Therran Creature Listing

Presented in Excel format is a database of Therran creatures. This database is designed both to show where various creatures dwell in Therra as well as to provide a DM with a sortable database that can allow him to choose creatures based on a number of criterion.

Most of the information presented in the database is straight out of the various sourcebooks. Abbreviations of the sourcebooks are listed below.

Some of the Habitat listings have been altered to better reflect where various creatures dwell in Therra. For example, in the Monster Manual, stirges are listed as dwelling in Warm Marshes. However, in Therra striges dwell Underground, in Temperate Marshes, and in Temperate Forests, and so the listing reflects the Therran reality over the sourcebook.

Habitat listings are generalizations. A stirge can likely be found in Temperate Hills, especially if those hills are well forested. The habitats merely show the most preferred or prevalent environment where the given creature can be found.

Similarly, the Area listings are generalizations as well. Because a creature is listed as being found in Iligor doesn't mean it will never be found elsewhere. But the listings show its native region and/or its current area of main habitation. The entries are generally guidelines, not absolutes.

The term Jerranq means western Jerranq. That is, the part of the continent west of Pilong. Morakki means the portion of Jerranq east of Pilong. In general, Jerranq includes Onlor. Where Onlor is listed separately, it means the creature is generally found only there. In the case of a listing that includes both Jerranq in general and another line for Onlor, it means the creature is found widespread throughout Jerranq but is also found specifically in Onlor in the frequency listed. For example, the deep bat night hunter is found uncommonly throughout Jerranq. If that were the only listing for that creature, then it would indicate that the creature is also found uncommonly in Onlor. However, as the creature has another listing specifically for Onlor, it shows that the creature is only rarely found on Onlor.

Some planar creatures have their area listed as Astral Plane - Demi. This means they dwell on demi-planes within the Astral Plane. Remember, Therra has no Outer Planes as per the standard D&D cosmology.

Frequencies are as follows:

C = Common
U = Uncommon
R = Rare
Unique = Unique
VR = Very Rare

These frequencies are very general guidelines, and are also relative to other creatures in the same region. For example, a creature with a Common frequency in a small geographical region will be much more often encountered than a creature with a Common frequency on the Astral Plane. The term Common, then, simply denotes which species are the more prevalent within that given region. Also, Very Rare encompasses a great variety of meanings, from a species that is relatively numerous but rarely leaves its lair, to creatures that are so rare that they are almost regarded as unique.

Currently, creatures found on other continents are listed only as that continent. As each continent is developed, these creatures will be assigned to specific regions of those continents.
