You arrived at House Riverine in the city of Dwillingir at the behest of your father. While you have worked hard to accept your father's assignment and understand the reasons behind it, a part of you has been dismayed at the rather primitive conditions (relatively speaking, of course) that reign this far north of the Empire on its farthest frontiers.

You know that, as the son of a high ranking member of House Riverine, you are accorded some respect. But House Riverine has also always valued skill above heritage, and so you know as well that your father's station will only get you so far and that you must prove yourself in this new environment. Your father had promised to send you a small stipend of approximately 15gp per month, but he never made it clear how long your term of service would be.

As you arrived at the merchant house, you were met by a dignitary of the house, who welcomed you profusely and offered to escort you immediately to meet the master of the house, Lord Barnabus.
