Adventure #1 - Joeii is hired by a patron to explore the ruins of a strange temple in Vilgum and retrieve a magical rod. He penetrates the chambers underground and manages to defeat several undead, including a horrific ghoul, before returning with the rod.
Adventure #2 - Joeii's family has fallen on hard times and needs coin to keep its farm running. When Joeii learns from a nearby village that rumours persist of a dragon's cave up in the hills, Joeii is intrigued. But when he hears that the mother dragon may be away, he decides to check it out. Apparently, these rumours have gotten around, and Joeii has to kill a ruffian who is also on his way to the cave in order to loot the dragon's hoard and doesn't want Joeii competing for the coin. Joeii makes his way to the cave sight, which is built under some ruins. Within the ruins, Joeii defeats two skeletal swordsmen and a skeletal archer. He then descends into the dragon's cave and finds mounds of coins and other valuables. He also finds three eggs, one of which is hatched. Exploring further, Joeii is accosted by the hatchling dragon. After a fierce fight, he slays the hatchling, but its cries alert the mother dragon. Just as the fierce matron returns to her cave, Joeii grabs a silver plate and a handful of gold and flees. The mother breathes some sort of breath weapon, which misses Joeii, but apparently is loathe to abandon her other progeny. Joeii returns with the gold and saves his parents' farm.
Adventure #3 - Joeii is out strolling in the wilderness when he comes upon a woman being chased by two wolves. As he watches, the two wolves surround her and knock her to the ground. The lady begins to scream for help. Instantly, Joeii draws his blade and charges, and a fierce fight developes, with Joeii also being knocked to the ground and savaged by the beasts. It is only barely that the wolves are vanquished. The woman stands up and touches Joeii and all of his wounds are healed. She then heals her own wounds and introduces herself as Arilene, a Vastallan nun. She tells that she and her sister were accosted by goblins and dragged to a nearby cave, but she managed to escape. The goblins sent the wolves to hunt her down, and they would have if the gods had not blessed her with Joeii's presence. Arilene then asks Joeii if he would be willing to brave the goblins in their cave and save her sister from being eaten...or worse.
Joeii agrees, and the two locate the cave. They descend a bit and have to smash through a barricade, which makes some noise and takes enough time to alert the goblins. These set up an ambush, and when Joeii and Arilene pass the barricade, they attack. Two rogue goblins with crossbow attack from cover, which two goblin warriors with morningstars close to melee with Joeii. A fierce fight ensues, with Arilene brandishing her staff to ward Joeii's back. The fighter manages to slay three of goblins, though only after suffering a wicked blade cut from a goblin sneak attack. Arilene uses the last of her healing abilities to tend to Joeii while the final goblin flees over a bridge into some caves beyond.
Joeii and Arilene quickly follow, and eventually come to a cave with a wooden platform. Seated on the platform is a large orc. Next to the orc is the bound and gagged form of Arilene's sister. Near the platform is a orc spearman and the goblin rogue. The sitting orc laughs at the two humans, and tells them they should have stayed away when they had the chance. Now he threatens to eat them all. Joeii laughs and whips out his crossbow, wounding the goblins. The seated orc yells at his spearman to kill the humans, and the spearman advances. Joeii makes short work of him, and the seated orc rises, draws a wicked falchion, and leaps down into the fray. The goblin rogue slashed Joeii with another sneak attack, and the fighter also takes a deep cut across the back from the falchion, now worried, Joeii manages to chop the goblin's head off. Then he skewers the orc and Arilene's sister is rescued. Joeii returns the two sisters to their father, a wealthy merchant, who rewards Joeii handsomely and invites him to break bread with him any time he wishes.
Joeii returns to his family and shares his reward with them.
Adventure #4 - Arilene comes to Joeii for help. Her Vastallan order needs a healing potion delivered to a military outpost to the north. The way is somewhat dangerous, being near the frontier, and she would like a stout companion like Joeii to escort her there. Joeii decides to bring his friend Taggir with him. The three head out for the outpost, but as they near it they notice signs of a disturbance. Approaching the stables, they are waylaid by two gnolls wearing the livery of the forces of the Death Marches. In a very dangerous fight, Taggir leads one gnoll on a chase through the stables while Joeii manages to slay the other. The two then turn on the final gnoll and Taggir manages to dispatch it with a spear to the ribs.
The trio then walk up to the outpost, which is locked and quiet. Joeii breaks down the door and inside they find the garrison missing, with signs of a struggle within. A search of the place shows that a tunnel had been dug up through the earth into the outpost. The trio descends into the tunnel, only to find that, apparently, the outpost had been constructed atop an ancient burial ground. Within the catacombs, they come upon zombies, which they dispatch, and in the final chamber they face two horrid ghouls, who even then are feasting on the remains of the garrison. Joeii and Taggir manage to hack the foul creatures to pieces, luckily able to ward of paralysis from the scratches of the hideous beasts. Within the burial chamber, Joeii finds a sword of obviously ancient make that is startlingly clean. As he grasps the sword, it gleams with a bluish tinge of magic. Claiming the sword as his own, the three leave the place and report the fate of the garrison to Arilene's Vastallan mistresses.
Adventure #5 - Joeii 's father contacts him and asks him to aid a fellow merchant who has been taken captive by Wolf Riders. The Wolf Riders have demanded a ransom be paid, and Joeii's father wants him to deliver the ransom to the tribe and escort the merchant back to Imtorr. Joeii recruits his girlfried Arilene and his friend Taggir to accompany him. Together they head north into Wolf Rider land and are ambushed by a group of Wolf Riders and their wolves. All three are taken captive, and the chief of this tribe offers to return their goods and money to them if they prove their bravery by helping the tribe get rid of a menace that has haunted their farmland. Joeii and the group agree, and are tasked with ridding the fields of an ankheg. The trio enter the burrows beneath the fields and manage, after a chase and hunt, to confront and slay the insectoid beast. Presenting the head to the chief, the three are released, along with their equipment and the ransom money. When they arrive at the tribe that has the merchant captive, Joeii convinces the chief to accept the ransom and escorts the merchant back to Imtorr. The greatful merchant offers Joeii a magical potion of his choice, and the prudent warrior chooses a potion of healing.
Adventure #6 - Joeii is asleep in his village of Penetmuth when the alarm gong sounds and the cry of "fear, fire, foe!" is raised. He jumps out of bed and, as his father runs into his room wondering what's up, he begins to don his armour. With his father's help, he manages to suit up and muster in the village square, where watchers atop Ather's Tower are pointing to the east and clanging the gong. Jeremon the blacksmith also alights out of his shop, warhammer in hand and leather apron covering his bed clothes. Other craftsmen and villagers muster, most with spears or other simple weapons. Sergeant Blakcsir, head of the village militia, calls for people to form into combat groups of no less than three and to take positions within the village square. The plan is to let the intruders enter the square and then fall upon them from all directions. Arilene emerges from her cottage, while Taggir and two of his friends come out of the Broken Arse Inn reeling a bit from strong drink and stout pipeweed.
Soon, a trio of villagers runs from the east, with "orcs" on their breath. On their heels is a troop of orc raiders, likely out of the eastern Death Marches, possibly seperated from their evil forces and taken to a life of pillaging and scrounging on the march. The orc forces consist of half a dozen spearmen, led by a grim orc captain. To their flank runs four archers warded by a flachion bearing brute. The orc archers immediately take up position and begin to trade fire with the three crossbowmen atop Ather's Tower. It is clear the orcs had scouted out the village prior to their attack. Under cover of their archers, the spearmen and captain enter the village square. At Joeii's shout, the villagers set upon the orcs. The fight is quick and brutal, as inexperienced villagers are cut down by orcs who have fought for a living all their lives. But, Joeii, Taggir, and his two friends have seen action themselves, and they begin to cut a swath through the orcs, though not before both of Taggir's friends are down and Joeii has to quaff both of his cure potions just to stay afoot. It appears that the day may be won whenan orcish howl arises on the opposite side of the village square, where a flanking force of five orc swordsmen has emerged. Jeremon, who has stayed near his smithy, is nearest to these new opponents, and manages to bash in the skulls of two of them before he falls. Sergeant Blakcsir emerges from the tower to fight over the falloen blacksmith, but the experienced warrior is quickly overwhelmed. Things look bleak, but the crossbowmen atop Ather's Tower have now dispatched all of the orc achers, easily winning that missile duel, and now begin to rain heavy crossbow bolts down on orcish targets of opportunity. At this point, Joeii and Taggir advance upon a last pocket of orc swordsmen and the orcish captain, but the latter manages to lay Joeii low, his life saved only by Arilene's magic. However, the orc captain, being struck from above by crossbows, now considers discretion the better part of valour and flees with his few remaining orcish troops.
The battle is a phyrric victory for the Penetmuthians, as they have lost 5 villagers to the terrible assault, including one of Taggir's friends. Fortunately, Jeremon and Sergeant Blakcsir manage to survive their wounds, and the sergeant is somehwat embarrassed to have fallen so quickly while younger folk like Joeii and Taggir managed to hold their own. The villagers search the downed orcs and split up gold that the orcs had obviously pillaged from other victims. Joeii's share is 300 gp, and he purchases, the next day, a potion of cure light wounds and a potion of shield of faith from the local Aghorrit Temple.
Adventure #7 - Joeii, Arilene, Taggir, and a mercenary are hired to find out why goblins have been active along the Shining Falls road. The group sets out along the trail and comes upon a bugbear and goblins ransacking a caravan and harrassing the caravan driver. The PCs slay the humanoids and rescue the grateful driver. They then track the goblins back to their lair, which is set amid caves set into a gorge. Joeii and friends pilot a raft into the teeth of an ambush, but manage to make the goblin lair, where they slay a handful of goblins before facing their master, a wererat hobgoblin wizard. After a tremendous fight, Joeii slays the wererat and disrupts the goblin bandits along the roadway. They find, in the wizard's lair, a tunnel leading deep underground, but they plug it up with a large boulder, after seeing carvings indicating some greater evil below. Returning with the wererat's head, they are rewarded by the local merchant's guild for their services.
Adventure #8 - Joeii, Arilene, Taggir (now a full-fledged mercenary), and Lanny learn of a magic ring that is supposedly hidden in the Keep of Dalashir. The ring was known to have protective properties, and was said to be held by the duke of tha keep before its fall. he group heads out along the Duke's Road and are attacked by zombies that burst up out of a trio of graves alongside the roadway. The zombies are spellstitched hobgoblins and they use their chill touch attacks to weaken the warriors. But with a determined effort, the zombies are returned to the grave. The group then arrives at the keep. There, they first encounter a displacer beast, which almost kills Taggir and savages Joeii and Lanny, but Taggir manages to chop its head off just as he collapsed from blood loss. The group quickly retreats and recovers their strength and wounds before returning to the keep. They hear orcish voices discussing the demise of the displacer beast, and Joeii and group try to set up an ambush, but Lanny is clumsy and trips, alerting the orcs. The first orc comes to investigate and is slain quickly. Two more orcs and an orc skeleton arrive soon after and Taggir and Joeii team up to slay the living orcs while Lanny distracts the skeleton, which is soon turned to bones and dust. Their enemies dispatched, the group searches the keep and Lanny finds a secret compartment beneath the duke's stone throne that holds the magic ring. The group returns home and Joeii takes the ring as his prize.
Adventure #9 - Joeii, Arilene, and Taggir are summoned by the magus Armenides to help him with a task. The magus wishes to create a magic item that requires the life force of an elemental from each of the elemental planes. Along with his student Tuurti, the trio of adventurers agree to travel to each of the elemental planes. Armenides provides Tuurti with a magic bell that he is instructed to ring when they have captured or slain each elemental. On ringing the bell, the magus promises to bring them back from the plane.
The Tuurti first chooses to enter the Plane of Water. Armenides gives the adventurers a potion of water breathing and they are transported to the endless ocean, where they battle and defeat a water elemental. The adventurers return to Armenides after ringing the magic bell, and the magus uses an arcane ritual to cause the water elemental to be absorbed into a magic crystal.
The adventurers then venture to the Plane of Fire, thankful for the potions of resist energy (fire) that Armenides had provided to them. Standing on a steaming rock amidst a sea of magma, the adventurers defeated a fire elemental and returned to Armenides, who absorbed it into the crystal.
Next was the Plane of Earth, where, guided by Tuurti's light spell, the adventurers battled and vanquished an earth elemental in a dark and lonely cave. Once again they returned to the magus, who absorbed the elemental into the crystal.
Finally, bolstered by potions of expeditious retreat, the adventurers defeated an air elemental on the Plane of Air. Returning to Armenides, he absorbed the last elemental into the crystal, which glowed argent with its newfound magical radiance. The magus thanked the adventurers and gave them each gold and a potion.
Adventure #10 - In their hometown, Joeii and Tuurti attend an exotic circus, but as they watch, several dangerous exhibits escape, causing havoc and slaying the circus master. Joeii, Tuurti, Taggir, and Arilene manage to kill or drive off the creatures, and afterwards they find a caged baby manticore in a wagon of the now-dead circus master. After consulting with Armenides, the group decides to return the baby to its mother, and divination spells reveal that she dwells in some nearby mountains. The group manages to ascend the mountain, finding an ancient tunnel to the peak. There they leave the baby to the mother, and parley for their own safe return to town.
Adventure #11 - The group is travelling south to the heart of Imtorr and are hired to find and bring back, dead or alive, a criminal mage named Bargle, who is believed to be hiding out in an old ruined keep. The group fights off a pack of kobold guards, but when Joeii rashly charges off by himself into the throneroom of the kobold chieftain, the others cannot mount a proper defense in time. All of the group are tragically killed, with Joeii being the last tofall, valiantly swinging his sword in man-to-man combat with the kobold chief.
