Hinsemek is an ex-Thaneeri slave whose father was given his freedom. The young Hinsemek was fully inculcated into Imperial society, and did not wish to return to Thaneer with his father and mother. He ran away from home and took up as a cabin boy on a merchant galley plying the Oto Sea. What happened to his family he doesn't know. His features are a clear mixture of Antorian and Thaneeri, but the 29 year old man has no ties to his barbarian heritage, other than a well-known temper when he has been in his drink too long. Hinsemek dreams of one day owning his own ship, and he has served and studied diligently under various captains in order to learn the profession. He is scrupulous with his money, saving it at an Indolle Temple in Dwillingir until he can raise enough to purchase a ship. But realizing that at the rate of his current crew pay he would never raise the 10,000 gp necessary, he has begun to engage in trading and goods speculation as a sideline on his journeys. Most of this involves small, easy to transport items, gems, drugs, etc. Some of this is stolen, and others of it merely smuggled, and a small portion even legally obtained and sold. Nonetheless, Hinsemek is a kind man who often gives to beggars and children and who views his illicit activities and a necessary evil to obtain his lifelong dream.
