THE WORD - RQ Campaign
Campaign Status Report

This status report was handed out to the party right after the events outlined in the Campaign Narrative had come to a close. It was designed to give an overview as to how the world-shaking events of the past few campaign years has fallen out.

The purpose of this piece is to update and remind the players how things currently stand as of the first day of 1640:

1. River of Cradles Area:

The Sun Dome Country has smashed the Hazia trade here and completely eradicated the Krarsht presence in its territories. It has also demobilized its troops along its border with Rone and has accepted Raus's peace overtures, especially now that Pavis and Rone are allied.

Rone has its king back and is now slowly repairing the damage done by Muriah and Gim Gim. The treasury is almost empty, but the populace cannot be taxed more heavily to make up the difference, since they too were mistreated by Muriah. A bastard child of Rone will be born soon, and with the finding of Balastor's Axe, Rone is now allied to Pavis. Raus is now engaged to a Priestess of Pavis, and she will eventually become the Queen of Rone.

Pavis has Balastor and his axe, and with it the dynamic leadership it has needed. Balastor appraently approves of the alliance with Rone and has called for a jihad against the Uz of Pavis. The Pavisites are being whipped up into a fury against the Trolls of the Rubble and several Argan Argar caravans have already been sacked. In fact, by the year end, the Argan Argar temple and the Kygor Liter temple in Pavis have been ransacked and Balastor has decreed that no Troll shall ever set foot in Pavis again. The Sun Domers have expressed an interest in aiding Balastor in his holy war provided, of course, that they receive a share of the spoils, such as a return of lands in the Rubble once used as a temple to Yelm before the Trolls invaded. Even the Elves and Mostali of the Rubble are stirring, and it is rumoured that the Rubble Trolls have sent requests for aid to Dagori Inkarth. It seems unlikely that peace will overtake the River Valley just yet.

The Animal Nomads od Prax are reinhabiting their lands, still trying to recover spirits lost during the Lunar exorcism. The Sable People have contacted their brethren in the Hungry Plateau regoin of the LUnar Empire, where Waha's power does not hold sway, and sables are being exported to Prax, although they are still extremely rare such that only the Khans and Priestesses ride them these days.

The crack in the Block is growing, further exacerbated by several earthquakes that seemed to be centered on the Block. The Stormbulls there are becoming increasingly worried, a few stating that they believe Wakboth himself is growing active. Several Khans have gone on heroquests to repair the Block, but the few who have returned have failed utterly.

2. Sartar and Kaethela:

Starbrow is Queen of Sartar and she has taken as her consort a King of the Colymar Tribe named Hostfaring Treeleaper. Meanwhile, Lord Kiri Windstorm is Thane of Boldhome and has become a Windlord, while Etta Windstorm is his Lady and a Storm Voice. They now have two sons and a daughter. Kiri is served by some Brithini Knights pledged to his service by Myrn, and he is advised by Alsheen Theysha, once his nemesis and now emissary of the Lunar Empire to the Court of Boldhome. Kiri has been plagued by constant entreaties from White Moon cultists to rescue Sunray the Prophet, and now a White Moonist is always present as the gate to Kiri Keep, begging all who pass to rescue Sunray or to convince Kiri to do so. When one of the cultists has been arrested, slain, or banished, another arrives to take his place.

Sartar is generally at peace, although the Tarshite still harbour some Lunar sympathies and certainly the Wintertop Bandits plague trade all along Dragon Pass. The Telmori have become more active, having now lost a common enemy in the Lunars, and they have stepped up their raids of other tribes in contravention of Argrath's treaties with them.

The Ducks have regained their traditional lands, and Delecti had been granted his place in the Upland Marshes. Needless to say, the Humakti element of the Ducks still despises Delecti, and the Ducks and Necromancer still wage constant warfare.

Belintar rules Kaethela once again, to the benefit of all the peoples of the Holy Country, although an element of Esrolia is disappointed that a man now rules their Queen. Graymane has ended his truce with Esrolia and his clans have begun to raid into that land as was their wont before the Lunars came.

3. Lunar Empire:

Now a shell of what it once was, the Empire is ruled by the Daughter of the Reaching Moon, sister of the Red Emperor. The Empire now controls most of the Heartland Sultanates, some of Upper Sylila, Carmania, and some of the most northerly provinces. The general thought amongst Lunar philosophers is that the recent setbacks are merely a Wane and that one day a Waxing will occur that will restore the Empire to preeminance once again. Many Lunars, however, do not share this view and as a whole the Lunars have become an insular people, now trying to protect their heartlands against encroaching and vengeful barbarians. Their many worry is that the Pentian Tribesmen will attempt to resurrect Sheng Seleris or will release the Mad Sultan and use these powers to crush the Lunar Heartland.

The Darra Happan Yelmists have decided to remain loyal to the Lunars, more out of fear of the Pentians and Orlanthi to the south than out of any love for the Empire.

Currently, outside contact with the Lunars Empire mostly occurs through its traders and scholars which have emerged from the wreckage of war to carry on business. In addition, out of work Lunar warriors can be found as mercenaries throughout Genertela.

The Glowline now covers only the Heartland Sultanates and a part of Upper Sylila. Most of the conquered provinces that have been freed from the Lunar Empire have reverted to their old forms, except they have kept those civilizing influences that most benefit them and their way of life. Thus does the Lunar influence continue throughout the entire region, from Tarsh to Sylila, after their departure as a political and military power, and the region has become more capable because of it.

The White Moonists have demanded that the Lunars rescue Sunray from Dorastor, but the Empress has refused. Many White Moonists have gone unarmed into Dorastor to find Sunray and have never been seen since.

4. Dorastor:

Many rumours now tell of a new presence inhabiting the Tower of Lead, wherein used to dwell the Queen of Vampires before her demise at the hands of Holgrim. It is said that this presence has set himself up as Dark Lord of Terror and is now second in power and influence in Dorastor to Ralzakark himself.

5. The West:

Sjinhar still treats and trades with Sartar and Lord Kiri and is a prospering kingdom. Lord Ghanimous still lives, although a bit grey around the temples. He had attempted to annex certain portions of Sjinhar until Kiri sent word that he would sweep Ghanimous' kingdom clean with an army of Brithini Knights and elementals. Ghainmous recanted.

Little else reaches Sartar regarding the West. Politics is politics in Ralios, as the city states squabble amongst each other, but as a whole peace reigns. The cult of Arkat has become more active, however, over the last few years.

6. The East:

Little of events in Kralorela is known.

 7. The South:

Little of events in Pamaltela is known.
