THE WORD Runequest Campaign
Kori Fire-Eye

Written by: Unknown. Kori's background is very brief, and it is likely she didn't survive in the group long.

Kori is the only daughter of a Yelmalian soldier. Her mother died during childbirth and her father never remarried. As his only child, and not knowing how to raise a girl, he raised her as a son to follow in his footsteps.

Kori was called "Fire-Eye" from the gleam in her eye that others noticed when she fought with the boys to include her in their activities. Eventually she was accepted as one of them and now considers herself more of a boy than a girl.

Upon coming of age, she joined the Yelmalio Cult as a soldier. Given the gift of Catseye, her nickname of "Fire-Eye" was reinforced and many considered it Yelmalio's personal blessing on Kori becoming a warrior.

Conversely, she received the geas to wear no armour on her legs. Many have considered this to be Kori-s reminder from Yelmalio that she is still a woman. Those who are cynical about such matters believe (thought most would never say it to their faces) that the priests chose this geas in an attempt to drive her out of the male soldiery.

Kori is devoutly a virgin and intends to remain so until marriage, if she should ever marry. However, it won't be easy for any man to marry her, since whenever she is propositioned her first response is to punch the man's brains out.

She has reluctantly accepted some of the values that her culture has forced upon her. When not in armour and in mixed company, she tends to be veiled, though subconsciously, it is her attempt to be seen as a woman.
