To my son:
My father, your grandfather, died when I was your age. I don't know his name, or mine, or yours. I was not able to say my name when he died, and my mother hasn't spoken since he was killed. The barbarians who raised me gave me the name Talonspear, after my preferred weapon and the claw of the beast that killed my father.
However, it is not my true name. I have lived in barbarian lands and possess a barbarian name. Perhaps this will cause your problems growing up amongst children who have established names and families, but I am sure that they will come to accept you as I have become so accepted.
My father was a brave and heroic man. His last breath was spend saving my mother and me from evils that I could not even imagine. Only now do I begin to comprehend the forces of Chaos and evil that Glorantha harbours in her bowels.
My father did not get a chance to give me advice, so let me take the opportunity. Know your enemies. Do not let your enemies know you. If I do not get a chance to explain more, ask Invictus to tell you about it.
May your path always be well lit my son,
Talonspear
