Sunfist was born on the 42nd day of Dark Season in the year 1611. His father is a warlord for a tribe of Yelm worshipping barbarians in the Grazelands. His father is a master of oratory and composite bow, but a lack of time and ambition has prevented him from becoming a Runelord in the Cult of Yelm. The elder Sunfist is one of the three main leaders of the tribe. The first, and highest, is the clan leader, followed by the agricultural leader (in peacetime) and then Sunfist. His father commands a great deal of respect in the tribe, and it is this respect that has allowed the younger Sunfist to acquire the skills that he has.
Rather than joining the usual squads of trainees during the annual war training, Sunfist was able to lead his own group of friends and create a scouting party composed of five friends and himself. He was charismatic in his youth, but this opportunity for leadershop brought out even more of the excellent leadership qualities instilled into him by his father. Sunfist believes in stealth rather than power to overcome his foes. Every member of his scouting force learned the tribal magicks of silent movement at the earliest opportunity, and soon Sunfist had mastered all of the intricacies of this spell.
He never was allowed to truly live up to his potential until his seventeenth year. After that, he attracted the attention of a lovely young lady and used his stealth skills to gain entrance to her abode on many occasions. He once had to use his gift of gab and fast taling to get himself safely back outside of his paramour's dwelling. For about three seasons during his eighteenth year, life was good.
Then the Lunars came. They blew through the Grazelands like a plague. Unfortunately, the tribe leader took a liking to the new Lunar way of life. Sunfist used his stealth skills to discover that the Lunars were paying the leader extrodinary sums of money in exchange for his impotent stance towards them. At this point, Sunfist had his first doubts of Lunar ways. His father was unwilling to press the issue, which further engraged Sunfist.
On one particularly beautiful day in Fire Season, the leader announced that a neighbouring tribe would be attacked at dawn. Sunfist's tribe had always gotten along peacably with its neighbours. At first, the elder Sunfist refused to draw up a battle plan, but he was threatened with banishment and was forced to comply. The Lunars were behind the effort, because the neighbouring tribe had not agreed to leave the Lunars in peace and unmolested. That night, Sunfist and his friends snuck through the Lunar sentries and warned the neighbouring tribe of the danger. His mission saved the lives of many families, but the neighbouring tribe was forced to flee its homelands to avoid the attack.
Later that season, Sunfist planned a journey into the Lunar headquarters in the Grazelands. He was able to obtain a great deal of information, but his bewst friend, Jala Brighthelm, was injured and captured by the Lunars as they attempted to escape. Jala hasn;t been seen since then, but rumour has it that he is alive in some Lunar prison.
During Dark Season, before Sunfist's birthday, his girlfriend turned up missing, but she left a note to her parents saying that she was going to elope with one of the young Lunar officers that had been roaming around for the past several seasons. Sunfist now had his reason to hate the LUnars completely and without feeling any remorse due to his cult affiliations. After spending more than a year trying to convince his father to start a rebellion against the tribe leader, Sunfist became totally disgusted with his tribe's conduct. On the first of Earth Season in 1631, Subfist set out to gain the skills that he thought he needed to make his father the leader of the tribe. He hopes along the way to find and free Jala and to kill the Lunar who stole (or kidnapped) his girl.
