A Halfling's Pleasure

Introduction: having been raised by the little folk, Therrilliar loves halflings and has picked up quite a few of their habits, including love of a good smoke.

This is a halfling folk song (written by Therrilliar's player) she learned. The trailing note of the second verse of the chorus is supposed to be sung completely out of key.

There are many thing of joy and wonder in this wide world
gems and jewels of fiery brilliance set in gleaming gold
and works of art that stir the heart and set the mind a-wandrin'
and mountains high and forests deep and bright rivers bold

Some find bliss in a lover's arms for a midnight tryst
while others revel in swing of sword and defeat of foe
many love music sublime and a good old rhyme
and of course a draught of beer can quench the soul

But in our homely holes far and wide across the lands
is a pleasure beyond compare to all the world's splendour
for there at hearth among our kin we sit in comfy chair
and leaning back we prop our feet upon the fender;and...............

We smoke smoke smoke
and all the world's worries melt away
smoke smoke smoke
and dream our dreams amid the rings;that drift away

For there is love in a pipe
and bliss in a cigaaaarrrrrrrrr

Telgis and sungrown
smell of summer days
and shadegrown cigars
make a lovely spring-like haze

The clench of a pipe
stem between your teeth
as ye wile away the hours
haloed in a smoky wreath

Ah! what pleasure there is
to deal with any need
with tobacco pouch at hand
filled with fine pipeweed
Oh.........

We smoke smoke smoke
and all the world's worries melt away
smoke smoke smoke
and dream our dreams amid the rings
that drift away

For there is love in a pipe
and bliss in a cigaaaarrrrrrrrr

So come my good friends
and sit beside the flame
and light up a Telgi stump
and I shall do the same

And we will laugh to good food
and good drink and good cheer
and quench the fire of our smoke
with a nice cold mug of beer
And we shall......

Smoke smoke smoke
and all the world's worries melt away
smoke smoke smoke
and dream our dreams amid the rings
that drift away

For there is love in a pipe
and bliss in a cigaaaarrrrrrrrr
