Harawep's Hymns

Introduction: Therrilliar wandered into the abbey south of Leth Deriel and eventually discovered a topiary maze. In each dead-end in the maze was a statue dedicated to the dark goddess Harawep and a bit of verse. Therrilliar eventually realized that these verses could form a song, and so she mapped out the entire maze and collected all the verses.

She then wove those verses into a song.

Although Therrilliar does not honour or revere the dark gods, she sings this song when in moods of darkness or despair.

Harawep malign goddess, some do shun thy name
and sing the following verses, to spare them from your shame:

Harawep, avert your gaze, and toy with us no more
For war, betrayal and dismay doth follow thee four-score
May faith be kept lest treachery run rampant through the lands
and Harawep's webs be spun about, then only death will stand.

Honor lies trampled in the mud and treachery reigns supreme,
when Harawep spins her plots at night and betrayal is the mean
May Harawep turn her gaze aside, and spare us all her wrath
lest fortunes fall and woe betide whoe're is in her path.

Plotting, planning, spinning webs to snare us all by night
Struggling in Harawep's web, no future can be bright.

Others still revere you, and revel evil ways
they sing to thee the following to increase their malign days:

All honor be to Harawep, all praise be given, too
That she may look the other way and spare us woe and rue
Harawep, queen of those who walk the night, keep us beneath your wing
that we may rule with terror bright and slay with shadow's pain.

Harawep, fight your battles far, and fight alongside me
that I may win whate'er it takes in spite of treachery
Mother, Harawep will be, for I'll have no more of mine
Betrayal, pride and vanity give me my place in time.

Having none of loyalty, scorning filial love as weak
I'll honor none save Harawep to find the power I seek.

But whether feared or worshipped, shunned or reveried
Harawep will be with us still, to perform her fearsome deeds
