#Song-Ballad of Therrilliar and Thilissal

put say I will now sing Love's Fortunes Lost - The Ballad of Thilissa1 and Therrilliar, by Therrilliar d'Onlor

pause 5

put sing The wanderlust was born to me as surely as breath;and 'tis why I sojourned from home, forest, and kin;to set upon the far-flung path, my travels to begin;love left behind, with mother, father, and the rest.

pause 15

put sing Long and far did I trek, to strange lands did I roam;the lands of halflings, humans, elves, and dwarves;in taverns, inns, markets, courts, and wharves;and ne'er once did mine eyes long for far off home.

pause 15

put sing For 'tis the destiny of a bard to wander;and by the tides of fates be tossed;joy mixed with sorrow;at love's fortunes lost.

pause 15

put sing And then I came to Greywood fair, a mightly wood;whose beauty was sundered by beasts most fouled;and leaping upon me, they gibbered, slashed, and howled;and such evil fury I could not have long withstood.

pause 15

put sing As claws began to rip my flesh, and I fell;from the trees themselves came a blazing light;who slew the beasts and took them flight;and delivered me from impending hell.

pause 15

put sing Looking up I saw Thilissal, clad all in silver;and as I bled upon the ground and prepared my end;those calloused warrior's hands began to tend;and the electric touch of them made me shiver.

pause 15

put sing For 'tis the destiny of a bard to wander;and by the tides of fates be tossed;joy mixed with sorrow;at love's fortunes lost.

pause 15

put sing For three long months did Thilissal heal my hurts;in his home did I stay nestled in the trees above;and for three months did blossom a true love;that cannot be described by song or in words.

pause 15

put sing A love as intense as the fires of ashy Dirge;dids't flame in that brief space of time;and in each other's arms dids't we recline;and satisfy every whim and every urge.

pause 15

put sing For 'tis the destiny of a bard to wander;and by the tides of fates be tossed;joy mixed with sorrow;at love's fortunes lost.

pause 15

put sing And one Spring day, while in his arms, I did deign;to ask if he would leave with me;to wander far afield and free;and as my husband with me always remain.

pause 15

put sing Great was my joy when he said he would;it would be his heart's desire;but alas my joy was dashed to ire;when he told me where his allegience stood.

pause 15

put sing My dear Therrilliar, I serve my land as warrior proud;I cannot leave my oath I fear;my term is for full fifty years;stay with me and here you will wear the wedding shroud.

pause 15

put sing and there my heart broke asunder into twain;for in my bosom raged a terrible war;between deepest love and my lust of lore;and for a time, felt I would die of the pain.

pause 15

put sing For 'tis the destiny of a bard to wander;and by the tides of fates be tossed;joy mixed with sorrow;at love's fortunes lost.

pause 15

put sing Like life itself doth pain subside;and with a heavy heart I told;my beloved Thilissal what my future holds;and that if fate requires, then shall I decide.

pause 15

put sing I must heed my call, my love, as a bard;the wanderlust my birthright be;my heart hungers only for thee;but my soul calls out for the path most hard.

pause 15

put sing And as I prepared to leave that place of love and sorrow;Thilissal knelt and pledged to commence;his marriage to me fifty years hence;though I were to leave on the morrow.

pause 15

put sing For 'tis the destiny of a bard to wander;and by the tides of fates be tossed;joy mixed with sorrow;at love's fortunes lost.

pause 15

put sing With our passion and our love did we exchange;our vow to hold true to the other;and for a lifetime's wait take no lover;for to an elf, love embraces a greater range....

pause 15

put sing for to an elf, love lasts many lifetimes.

pause 6

put sing And 'tis the destiny of a bard to wander;and by the tides of fates be tossed;joy mixed with sorrow;at love's fortunes lost.
